After studying at the French Culinary Institute in New York, one of the worlds finest culinary institutes, Khalid worked in several restaurants in Miami and New York before returning to Trinidad where he started his culinary career at the Lighthouse Restaurant Crews Inn. He established his name on the local stage while working as Head Chef at Battimamzelle Restaurant, integrating West Indian flavours with epicurean French cuisine.
Khalid opened his signature restaurant, Chaud, in 2008, which has come to be recognised as the most elegant fine dining restaurant in Trinidad and Tobago. Located around the Savannah, it is a testament to new adventures in gourmet Caribbean and French fusion. Ever seeking new challenges, Khalid opened the doors of Chaud Creole in January 2011. Here the focus was his enduring passion the celebration of Caribbean cuisine, melding together the flavours of our Indian, African, Chinese, Middle Eastern and European history. In the same year, he collaborated with Alison Mair-Pascal to bring new flavours and new worlds to Trinidad in his third brainchild: Chaud Café.
